Himesh Reshammiya (born 23 July 1973) is an iconic Indian music composer, singer, actor, and producer who revolutionised the sound of Bollywood music in the mid-2000s. Son of veteran music director Vipin Reshammiya, he initially worked as a television producer and music composer for serials before breaking into mainstream cinema.
He rose to meteoric, nationwide superstardom with his chart-topping, record-breaking music for Tere Naam (2003) and subsequently Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005)—the latter of which marked his explosive debut as a playback singer with his signature high-pitched, nasal vocal style and modern club-remix beats. Renowned for creating massive commercial hits with distinct Punjabi and Sufi-rock influences, he dominated the charts with landmark albums such as Aksar, 36 China Town, Namastey London, and Bodyguard.
Throughout his prolific career, he has received numerous prestigious accolades, including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer (for Aashiq Banaya Aapne), alongside multiple nominations for music direction.
