Mardaani 2 is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Gopi Puthran and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. It is a sequel to the 2014 film Mardaani and features Rani Mukerji reprising her role of SP Shivani Shivaji Roy. Inspired by true rape and murder incidents, the story follows Shivani who goes up against a 21-year-old rapist. Yash Raj Films announced Mardaani 2 in December 2018, and principal photography of the film began on 27 March 2019. The film was theatrically released in India on 13 December 2019.
